Good evening one and all
I am new to this site, I turned the big 50 this year and have decided that I need to do something about all the projects I have (a dozen of them at the last count).
There are 3 Katanas and a GSX1100ET ex proddie racer included in that number hence the ID, I have a friend who is really keen to restore the racer for me this winter, after all its been in my shed for the last ten years, but I am really struggling to find out information and pictures of bikes that competed in this era, maybe MCN production based race series held 1980/81/82/83, I have a distant memory of CB1100R`s and Katana`s ruling the roost back then.
I have contacted Suzuki GB with the chassis number but it produced nothing.
The chassis has a correct Suzuki number but the frame is considerably different from a standard ET frame, its weighs about half of a standard frame and has two different mounting positions for the top of shocks, the bracing is also different, wheels are Dymag, discs and calipers are Brembo, forks are Marzocchi and bottom yoke is machined billet whilst the top is a cast Harris yoke, clip-ons are Tommaselli, tank has a massive aircraft type filler cap seat is Guillari two four tailpiece is an exact copy of the standard tailpiece and rear lens but all totally fabricated from aluminium, rear shocks are Koni with remote reservoirs, I`ve never seen another set like them. Swinging arm is a braced aluminium one, but not a standard arm nor is it a JMC or Metamachex, rearsets look homemade but are functional everything is totally period early 1980`s and that's what I`m looking to recreate, a bike that is period correct, so no fat wheels or upside down forks, I`m afraid I`m set in my ways fitting monoshocks and upside down forks to anything 1970/80`s totally wrecks the look of the bike for me!
If anyone is interested the Katanas are, 1, a bog stock 1000 not mint concourse but everything is original ish, 2, a Jap import 750 with a 1200 Bandit lump and GSXR1100K front end/rear wheel in matt black and 3, is a real Heinz 57 an 1100 frame with an EFE engine GSX1400 rear end, ZX9RC front end.
Any help with the ET racer would be massively appreciated.
Best regards
