kiwi to the 8's
Re: kiwi to the 8's
The racing on Sunday would have to have been the best day so far with this bike - Having the Wago O2 sensor makes tuning so much easier . As its turned out the bike is running lean under load, so much so that even with the largest jets I had 160's that the best air fuel ratio i could get was 14.5 to one, needs to be around the 12 to one.
On reflection when I had the dyna 4000 ignition on the bike, with its stronger multi spark this would have also been the problem so the plan from here is to refit the dyna and take the bike to a dyno and get it sorted
Hopefully the following videos work of a couple of passes made yesterday

Think I made about 12 runs all up with a best of 11.54 at 115.94 mph, but the most pleasing thing is my reaction times where all in the 0.05s range apart form the first run of the day that was 0.350 and the 60ft times where getting in to the 1.7s range much better than 2.0's I had been getting but still need to drop down in to the mid 1.4's
Also played round with different burn out technique's finding that a burn out of about 5's in second gear produced better 60ft times than ether a short first gear or a long third gear burn out. Also on a couple of passes found I was not getting full throttle easily so fitting a 1/4 turn throttle is now also added to the to do list, with hooking up a throttle position sensor that can be logged by the data logger to make sure I'm doing my job right and get to full throttle quickly
but all in all a very successful day - as few thing to do , some changes to be made , and lots to think about

So the current set up DD is dead stock motor with the VH exhaust standard ignition standard carbs with bell mouths from the EFE air box fitted
I had made lots of changes all at one time that did not work so need to go back to a know set up that I knew worked and start again
The first change was I did was putting on the dyna 4000 - had a really bad top end miss, when I pulled the plugs out they where black like a motor that was running very rich so as you would do leaned the carbs up but that didn't do any thing to improve the miss i had. At that time didn't have the WEGO O2 sensor and the standard cards did from time to time flood themselves so I thought fuck it Ill put on the 38mm lectrons that i had.
So now I two un know bits of kit on it, couldn't get it to run right, season here coming to an end, wanting to go racing and do some passes with out pull what hair I have left out, so back a known set I went and it worked
- just had to remember to turn the fuel off after each run so it didn't flood its self
