My EFE make over.
Re: My EFE make over.
Well,at last it looks like things are to move on a bit. Ive a fooked back,so have to be careful with what I lift.
My mate Dave is a motor vehicle technician at a high school, and off work now for 6 weeks.
Im going to rope him in to lift things. Id like to pull the gsxr donor bike to bits, and hopefully clean/paint whatever's needed, the engine and get it in the gsx frame. I'll then have something more like a motorbike.
Once the motor's in,I can machine wheel bit's,spacers etc and get a wheel central in the frame with the chain alignment where it needs to be. Plain sailing after that,I hope!?
Ive bought some interesting bits to fiddle with as this build happens. An EFI fuel pump,a malpassi rising rate fuel regulator,a new BOV,a new aftermarket external wastegate,Ive ordered some pre-made stainless steel bends (1.5 inch),Ive designed my new plenum..... But its not for this bike, its for another turbo build. Addictive pastimes.
Oh,Ive a mitsubishi TD04 and an ex_Audi turbo unit too. It will be for a Suzuki.

The engines now (kind of) in.
I made brackets as per the GSXR into gsx,but have found the turbo is having a little bit of a clearance prob. Im going to re make engine mounts to move the engine forward by about 20mm (or there abouts?). This will allow the turbo to go in without it hitting the frame anywhere.
Ive also swopped out the USD front end,as I think theyve been done to death, and gone backwards in time, and fitted a RWU set of forks. Yamaha Thunderace ones, cos I have all the bits, wheel, disc's ,blue spot calipers, master cylinder,risers,renthals..... They are nice and chunky too.
Pics when I find the camera.

Its too hot in the workshop today....im roasted,so basically just standing around drinking tea and eating biscuits.
Ive just been measuring my swingarm,as I fancy a change. Im tempted to make a new one. One,maybe an inch or three longer, and a touch wider at the rear.
The reason is that I have a few 6 inch wide rear wheels, but they all seem to have wider hubs for some reason than the slightly slimmer 5.5 wheels I have. Ive a lovely pair of Yam R1 wheels with tyres, discs etc,but the rear hub wont allow mw to get the wheel central in the frame. No way. Even turning the sprocket carrier down to recess into the part the cush drives fit,and then slimming the outside face, where the sprocket sits wont work.
This pic shows how much offset an R1 wheel has.
