lol,red and black, like the site logo (Steve Burns gsx)and blue and white.
Ive paint bought sitting here for the Burns replica, and will order the blue paint next week sometime. Im going to use a colour called blue grape from specialistpaints ( http://www.specialistpaints.com/products/base-pearlz ),which when applied almost glows in the sun! i painted a suzi blandit a while back in it,and I think everybody who looked at it ohhed and arghed! I was down in Sheffield at the paint place one day chatting with them about how cool it was,and they asked if I had taken any photo's? I had,but they didnt give the glow effect. They were saying they were trying to get a pro photographer to try to take some pics for their catalogue. Ive no connection whatsoever with them, but anybody thinking about "custom" paint, check them out. Ive never had anything from them that hasnt been great! They are cheap as well!
Once I make a start pics will follow!

Yesterday i was chatting with an ex-drag racer, who had ran in the 9's back in the 80's on a turbo gsx,and he has put me off turboing the EFE engine. He was telling horror stories of expensive rebuilds with melted pistons and in one case a partly melted head!
My EFE will be staying on carbs, with a new sidewinder pipe. It should still look ok I think?
A second EFE is getting the gsxr11 engine with turbo.
I figure it will be cheaper to rebuild when it goes bang with too much turbo boost!
let me see, where can I find a set of Busa pistons and some thick base gaskets?

Agreed youll get good and bad stories from all on these. Ive never run either as a turbo and would be happy to have either. I like air cooled. The banner at top was a huge inspiration for the motor choice and also my mate has been racing turbo efe for years. In 94 he ran a 7.23secs at 190 plus mph on a draw thru twin nos bike. Mind you that needed a rebuild every few races. The last several years he has run a stockish efe draw thru motor with no grief.

Well, after a big tidy up,evidence that the project exists!
The poor sad ugly donor bike.

The powdercoated frame, sitting in anticipation of some work being carried out. Dont worry, the shitty panels arent being used.

Its not going to be anything special, just a bolt together load of parts. Mk2 EFE will have a bit more frame fabrication etc happening to it!

I had been loocking at the centre page spread from Superbike mag from about 1983/84 with Steve Burns turbo gsx pic (the site logo),and it had me thinking about my plan for the front end? For ease of building,I should just refit the Kawasaki USD front end and be done with it,but,I found a Yam Thunderace front end in the back of a shed, with RWU fat chunky forks, wheel, new tyre and blue dot calipers. Hmmm...???? I like RWU front ends,as USD's have been done to death on bikes. Decisions, decisions? Im off this afternoon to look for some rosejoints for the lock up struts,to give the bike a little height adjustability.
I had in the past used steel tube lock up struts on the rear, and one day over a cup of tea decided to lower the bike a bit further.
The first right hand corner I came to had the megaphone exhaust can hitting the road.
i used to go everywhere in circles after that. Left handed circles.
I wont have a problem this time though,as Id need to have the bike on its side before the banana pipe grounds out!
