Re: DEANOTEK KAT750S2 REBUILD
Well i managed to get some work done on the Kat7/11 over Chistmas. This includes welding the efe footrest mounts on, welding in the new frame bracing , cutting down & reworking the rear of the frame where the seat fastens, & shortening the seat... etc
So here a few photos, .. Photos are a little on small side ,i took them with the mobile phone. I will have to get my camera back up & running.

Over the last few months I've been trying to drop on an 1100 motor, luckily..after loads of badgering, ive talked one of my mates into selling an old scabby looking one he had in his shed for £300, so in my next post I will post a few photos of the work ive been doing on that.

Will try to, ... but you probably wouldn't invite me ever again when you've heard my snoring.. Ha Ha..
Anyway.. I dropped on an 1100 motor off one of my mates, but it looked in a very scabby condition. All the paint was lifting & the alloy was a bit powdery/oxidised here & there.

Top end off & scabby cases. The top end was in a very scabby condition.
When I stripped it down, all the internals were in excellent condition... with a few added bonuses.
The head has been gas flowed.
It has a Cosworth 1170 kit fitted, & the pistons are like new.
The crank has been welded.
The clutch has a billet backplate fitted.
It has Gsx750 oil pump gears fitted.
I decided to rebuild it into some Kat1000 crankcases I've had for over 10 years.

Freshly painted Kat1000 cases.

Crank & gearbox in place. All new seals & camchain.

Built up bottom end.

Vapour blasted head & barrels. Head will be painted, & is fitted with lapped in valves & new valve seals. Barrels will stay unpainted.

Engine looks sweet. How much did your vapour blast cost and did it remove all you expected it to ?

Hi.. the vapour blasting was £45,... For barrels, head, rocker cover & breather cap. They've done an excellent job. I should have put up a before & after photo. You wouldn't believe the difference.
They do powder coating too,... for the clutch cover, generator cover, sump cover, oil filter cover, rocker cover & breather cap, all blasted then done in satin black.. £50. Which to me seems very reasonable.

Nice build Deano! Waching with interest. I'm up-dating an ET with B12 forks. Headstock dimms will probably be the same as yours. I was interested in knowing why, when you had the B12 stem out,on finding your Kat stem was US, didn't you just take 18mm off the bottom of the B12 stem, then press it back in? Instead of making a spacer to fit below the bearing. Just curious, as I have no ET stem, and may take 18mm off the bottom of the B12 one, if that would work?

If you take 18mm off the bottom of the Bandit stem, you probably will remove or get very close to the circlip groove that holds it in place in the bottom yoke. Also the bottom of the stem, is of a wider dimension than the rest of the stem if I remember correctly, its a very tight fit when pressed in, & it wont push through.
With fitting a spacer, you can still remove it to re-use the bottom yoke on a Bandit again if you decide to upgrade your forks again.
All the best Deanotek.
