Had a awesome day yesterday with Strangewayz, ten hours working on my frame, huge thanks to Alan, it was a late one we couldn't start till two because he really wanted to get to a point on Porkys frame that he was happy with. I have a few pics to post.
I removed most of the unwanted brackets before I got to Strangeland, still have a few to remove as the battery and all the electrics are going under the seat.
I cut the usual middle bracket from the efe hanger, to compensate we used 8mm thick brackets on the other two.

The first thing we did at the Strangeland was to sculpture the tube as shown, this is my favourite bit of the bracing, He had already bent it, I can't believe how long it took to fit this, Alan is a perfectionist, it had to be perfect as you'll see how it's sculptured in the pics.

After the tube we looked at positioning the shocks as the top are in new positions and Strangewayz got Larry to make some mounts for the bottom. I know that they look better with a really steep angle, however I wanted form as well as function. A GSXR runs at 9 degrees, so we aimed for that, I liked the look, this should also avoid the chain touching the swingarm

Last for now was the efe hangers, these were quite complicated to fit, I really wanted them to look even with each other from behind,. we did a good job on these, I need to sculpture the brackets and drill the holes.

Yeah I was supposed to chill with Oz (the resident Dobermann) in the evening but FBJ blocked my escape from the w'shop & there was no gap to wriggle past, the furry git did try to get his own back by leaving a steaming pile near FBJ's front end in the yard
Had gone dark as well so couldn't really see it & had I thought the smell was John at first.....
FBJ's original Kat frame that 'cough' he kindly dropped at mine, the one which I've ended up using two fooked frames to get one good one is taking me longer than I though to win round. Although it's more a combination of that & getting too busy in my proper job which has left me less time to try & get Porky's Kat, my 711 & FBJ's Kat done. So yeah I wasn't able to meet the deadline on this but luckily a frame that I previously had done for Mr Grumpy became available & as they say the deal got done.
The work I did yesterday just helps out FBJ with the ex Grumpy frame as he had a slightly different build spec, the other frame I will still finish & without revealing too much is going to be pretty cool when done... That though will be later in the year because for now the Grumpy frame means this project can move onto the next stage & I can just work on Porkys Kat to completion & then hit my 711...
TT's only 4 months & a few weeks away

Spent a bit of time round Strangewayz yesterday, he is really busy but was good enough to weld these on for me as I intend carrying pillions sometimes. These are modelled on the old AMA racing bikes from the 80's. I love how they turned out, It was great watching Alan work and learning bits and pieces.
Cheers again Strangewayz, I will down load lots of pics shortly
