GS1000E VACCUM TAKE OFF FOR PETROL TAP
Hi
Was in my local Suzuki dealers the other day looking at this old GS1000E and was asked to give the lad in the workshop a hand as he doesnt know how to work on old bikes ( yeah I know).
He said it'll only run on prime. So I had a look at the fuel tap, and the vaccum take off pipe was connected to the drain pipe off the tank fuel sender,
and obviously not doing sod all when the bike was running! And obviously would only run on prime!
When I looked at the carbs there was only 3 breather pipes on 3 of the carbs ( stay with me here
) and I couldnt see which pipe should go to the fuel tap!
So what I need to know is which pipe and on which carb does the vaccum pipe come off?
Just out of interest the Suzuki dealer wants £3000 for the bike , and Yes it has a chromed frame and swinging arm
But on the positive side it has a standard exhaust fitted which looks in really good nick!
What do you think its actually worth! Cos I aint paying £3000 for it!

Hello Bobster, how you doing? Kats and efes are normally taken from the 2nd carb from the left when sitting on the bike, if I remember correctly.
Hard to value it without seeing it but no more than £2000 at a push, if it was a mint S model upto £2500 imo

I thought that too, but the vent on Nos 2 carb just went to atmosphere and didnt have a vaccum on it when I put my finger over the end of the pipe when the bike was running.
Carb Nos 1 didnt have a breather pipe on it, but carbs 2 , 3 and 4 did. But none appeared to be drawing a vaccum!
All I can think is someones had the carbs apart and put the carbs back on the rail in the wrong positions.................

Down this neck of the woods a GS1000e is worth between £800 to about £1400 for a good runner with a mot. Mint maybe £1800 to £2000ish but if it's got a chrome frame and swing arm..... no I'm sorry it would have to be a raving bargain. Why would you chrome the frame.
£3000 no chance.

Reserve still needs a vac signal so 'on' and 'reserve' would be off and only 'prime' would be on!.(If the vac line was dicconnected)
