Slingshot wheel into EFE standard arm

Evening folks.
Right, Iv'e got both types of Slingshot rear wheel, 4.5 and 5.5 inch and want to put one of them into a standard EFE swingarm. I trial fitted both today using the EFE cush drive in the 5.5 one and they are both at least half inch off centre and leave no room for a caliper carrier. I know the details were on OSS forum as a sticky and loads of people have done it. Does anyone have the answer for me?
Many thanks.

I have put a 5,5" wheel in the EFE swingarm. But mine also has an oilcooled engine so i'm not sure about the chain run.

The seal in the sprocket carrier is removed, a bit of material removed from the carrier, then the bearing replaced by a sealed one. This makes it narrow enough to fit between the wheel and swingarm.

On the right side i have made a one-off brake carrier, because it was easier than modifying the EFE or the GSX-R one. I use an EFE caliper and the GSX-R disc.

The reaction arm (between caliper and swingarm) needed bending a bit to fit it:

Here's the dimensions of the stuff i use:

Is it just me or is Photobucket f*cking slow lately?

Right then. Caliper hanger being manufactured but am unsure of which type of 170 tyre to fit. Have been told that depending on the make they come up different sizes, some as wide as a 180 tyre. Also been told that 170 is too small for a 5.5 rim and the tyre profile will distort being stretched to fit. Any advice on a good narrow 170 tyre lads?

Cheers Perry

as i wrote on the other side (OSP), a 170 tyre on the 5,5" rim is perfectly fine, the GSX-R 750 had it from the factory.

I have a 160 (Dunlop Roadsmart) on the 5,5" rim and it's not perfect but ok, stretched a bit, it measures 166mm. On my GSX-R 750 L (with the same 5,5" wheel) i have a Pirelli 180/55-17 and it measures exactly 180mm in width, so i assume that Pirellis are pretty much the indicated width. A friend with a GSX-R 1100 has a Michelin 180/55-17 and it's considerably wider. Close to 190mm.
