Seat recovering with alcantara (fake suede)?
Id like to recover the seats on an EFE with alcantara (fake black coloured suede). Im wondering if anybody here has done it before, and if the alcantara holds up well to our climate? I recall seeing an EFE in streetfighters a while back done in this way,and it looked good.
Any advice please?? Will I always be subject to a soggy wet bum!?

looks great when done but as john says don't get caught in the rain it soaks up water like a sponge, if your incontinent then its perfect, you can always blame your wet ass on the seat

There are 2 types of Alcantara. There's a water repellent one and a waterproof one. One is twice the price of the other. I covered a mates CB1300 seat in the water repellent one and it soaked up the water real bad. I havn't used the waterproof one as yet but I guess you get what you pay for. I am an upholsterer by trade and the trade prices are approx £15.00 & £35.00 per metre respectively. No matter what you use, if there are stitched seams & not welded seams even vinyl will leak between the stiches.

Thank Cuds. Im doing the seats on an EFE,so I was just planning on stretching the material across and using a staple gun underneath. The EFE seats dont have any seams/stitching anywhere,so i think it should work? If you have any thoughts on it,feel free to advise me please?
