Re: Does the katana 750 clutch case fit the EF?
have swapped cases around on all aircooled models-tiny bit of offsetting required as seen pics above-dressing up a ET engine like an efe to go in an efe-phew-like dago says the earlier bikes had bigger fillers-the efe filler is same as earlier gsxr, i think it was slingy and slabbys -have to consult my book of knowledge-changing some cases between models [oil cover and alternator housing] can cause oil problems and failures.
best bet keep a huge pile of everything-just in case...

Found out, that 750 Katana and 1100 Katana clutch casings are not the same.
So I'll try the 1100 Katana clutch casing. Gasket part number of the EF and Katana are the same, so may be I've a chance...

If somebody is interested: Katana 1100 case fits the EF engine.

a bit to start responding on this topic now, but do so anyway..
engine cover ("cases?") similarity between 750 (EX/ET/EZ/S*) and 1100 (EX/ET/EZ/ESD/SD/SZ) is limited to just the ignition cover, the sprocket cover and the starter motor cover.. (the clutch covers look very similar but bolt holes -as mentioned- are off slightly, and the mating surface on the front is in another position, so won't be oil tight..)
all engine covers of the 1100 (EX/ET/EZ/ESD/SD/SZ) will fit on the later 1135 (EFE/EFF/EFG/etc) and vice versa as far as bolt locations are concerned (apart from the cam cover of course).. the mechanical advancer of the earlier bikes is too wide for the EF* ignition cover though.. also the EF* sprocket cover won't fit in earlier frames because of the protruding top engine mount (moved inwards on the EF*)
not 100% sure on alternator covers (they'll fit but stator mounting holes might vary..?)
as far as crankcase similarity is concerned, cases between early and later bikes are the same (regarding the fit of moving parts! the casts are different) apart from a slightly moved driveshaft bearing position (as a result of a wider bearing next to the sprocket).. the EF* cases themselve vary on front engine mounts (solid on early versions, and widened for rubber cushions on later EF*'s).. also later EF* cases were machined for the addition of O-rings at the base of some of the center cylinder studs.. (this results in a slight stud length variation too) and of course the crankcase "mouths" are wider on EF*'s to fit the bigger sleeves..
oh.. the EF* oil filter cover is different too because of the need to redirect the oil to the added oil cooler..

I'm pretty sure that GSX1100SZ/SD Kats had a different alt cover to ets etc, as it had a lighter flywheel
34mm locating ring rather than the 38mm seen on ets etc
