HELLO RACERS-
We are a small and fledgeling motor racing club.we aim to stage our first event next year at the historic pendine sands in camarthenshire.we represent and are working on behalf of pendine community council , pcc , who control and own the access to the beach.
The sport of racing motorcycles down runways and proving grounds is well catered for , this is something entirely different.
As stated we are a small group of racers , some very experienced, some just keen , our aims are identical ,to promote landspeed racing on the sands , initially the first event is motorcycle only , as the more experienced racers felt that cars would ruin the [usually] marble smooth sands-bentley went 180 mph here last year-on street tyres , so we have the distance.
We have aligned with the I.O.P.D. [international organization of professional drivers] to gain the RTA and other govt. permits.
We have deliberately avoided A.C.U. affiliation , but it may become necessary to encompass these people at later dates [for record ratification]
Our event is strictly * PRE 1990* as we ourselves ride british , american or aircooled japanese multi,s-
We have a facebook page that is the source of our most up to date info and contact details.http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pendine-L ... 919?ref=hl
So- here is a chance to race your machine , as fast as it or you can or will go , without having to pay the large amounts of money asked by the runway warriors , and without having to ship your machine around the globe , which is not only a lot of tiresome paperwork , phone calls , and emails to laconic american officials , its also very costly.
We aim for a june date ,but are still looking at the tide tables and liasing with other promoters.
Regs will be as per SCTA - NSA - exclusions apply for older machines.
We already have a few interesting and powerful machines keen to enter , and the BBC are talking to us again about filming the whole event.
Feel free to join the facebook page and volunteer or join up and race-THE LEGEND CONTINUES
regards PLRC

the regs allow production road tires up to 10 years old-depending on the anticipated speed of the machine-
ie up to H-130MPH
V-150MPH
ZR-151+ UP TO 200MPH
we recommend tyres to be low on tread for the faster machines ie 2/3 rds worn is ideal.
NO RAISED PATTERN TYRES /KNOBBLIES/OFF ROAD PATTERNS ALLOWED ON THE BEACH.
we were told you guys might be up for this event-

Hi, this seems very interesting and would be something i'd be very interested in getting involved in. Heres a couple of questions if you don't mind answering:
Does the bike have to be street legal?
Does it have to have a MOT?
Can the drag boys get involved? Got a mate that races a turbo gsx1100efe, but it has a one off chassis with no log book, would it be acceptable?
How long is the beach, the area the bikes will be running on? 1 mile? 2 miles?
Will there be camping? it's a long way to go, Could we have a ACS stand? I have a cool party tent
I reckon this would be great even to get your own pre 90's bikes on and flat out,
Cheers FBJ

Does the bike have to be street legal? -no-just has to pass scrutineering as per the regs-
Does it have to have a MOT? -no-
Can the drag boys get involved? Got a mate that races a turbo gsx1100efe, but it has a one off chassis with no log book, would it be acceptable?-yes-but he would need a street legal production tyre-we dont allow or recommend slicks-as per regs
How long is the beach, the area the bikes will be running on? 1 mile? 2 miles?- we have eight EIGHT MILES of [weather and tides permitting ] flat , hard packed smooth sand-although we will only be timing one or two miles with a kilometre run up and timed kilometres too-possibly.under construction.
Will there be camping? it's a long way to go, Could we have a ACS stand? I have a cool party tent![]()

YES -there is free camping for competitors and 2 crew-there is lots of caravan type accomodation nearby in a fairly new park-your stand would be welcomed-there are conditions for traders though-a club type stand would be free-and welcome but we have to give priority to any paying traders-we are bound by SO many rules on this event BUT want it to be as rule free and fun as possible for ALL involved.
we are talking with as many of the one marque owners clubs as we can , and have high hopes for a unique fun event , with some very very cool bikes and some fine motorsporting folk-so far we have definates from vincent-indian-triumph-velocette-suzuki-kawasaki-and greeves
we are talking to some great sponsors who we have worked with in the past-and of course the BBC-still a million miles away and so much to do-BUT WHAT A MENU!
I reckon this would be great even to get your own pre 90's bikes on and flat out,![]()
