Im not ready to really start a new full on project thread,as ive already so much stuff going on around me. I bought a frame and V5 a while back now from Stockcar,who's a member here,which ive had powdercoated black. The company i used shall remain nameless,as they didnt do as good a job as what i would have liked. Ahem.
The reason i bought a frame by the way was ( )because years and years and years ago,i forgot to sorn my efe,and its probably less hassle to start with another fresh frame and swop parts over. Maybe other people would do it differently i dont know?
Anyway,Im thinking of doing things in small bite size snippets,and collecting all the bits and bobs,then I'll make a good effort to do a project in what looks like a shorter time!
The thing Im thinking of doing at the moment is a new sprocket cover do dah. Years back i made one,which to be honest,worked,but looked crap.






The outside was a horrible design,so Im going to keep the basic idea,with a bearing support,but start again. When i made that thing,i was using a decrepid mill/drill pictured.


But im now the happy owner of one of these. So i should be able to make something neater and a lot nicer,i hope!


If anybody has any ideas or pics of nice covers,feel free to share them with me please,to help inspire me in the right direction.

lol,Im not working at the moment,not entitled to any hand outs from the govt,so money is tight. I dont mind buying some things,but if i can,id rather have a shot at making something,even if its not as nice as a bought one,in the knowledge that ive probably learned something along the way.
Ive had absolutely no training with lathes or milling machines,and have made dozens of botched mistakes,but,as I practise some more,bits are starting to become better.
But thank you for the comment,it makes me want to go make something. But its too cold in the workshop!!

Another reason why Im not 100% ready go for a full on project for an efe,is this.






I bought the frame ,which is pretty much a universal mount thing,with a plan to put my EFE motor in it. But,in the back of my mind,wasting an EFE engine in a chop,seems to be sacrilage. I do have any idea though. The forks are nice (Aprillia something or other),and I like the back wheel. From experience i know you can fit a 240 wheel/tyre into a kawasaki zxr swingarm,or probably any of the modern day big bike arms,so it has me thinking. Ive a 3rd spare efe rolling chassis hidden away,which im tempted to drag out and modify. A mate of mine was around yesterday,who has just modded (widened at the swingarm pivot point)his z650 frame (gpz1100 engined)to take a zx9r swingarm,and we discussed me doing the same with the spare frame. Ive also widened a z650 frame to take a zxr arm myself,which took 20minutes. Widening the frame has in my mind a benefit over narrowing the swingarm. You get more chain clearance,and can then fit a wider wheel.

Moving on somewhere else linked to where im heading,the swingarm extensions from that arm were borrowed to fit into this thing (f***ing horrible thing!).



A mate wanted to buy the zxr thing,but for one reason or another wasnt able to do a deal with me for the fat back end,so bought the bike with a std wheel in it,and a std length swingarm.
So,if your keeping up with me,the idea,widen an EFE frame at the pivot point,fit a zxr swingarm,with bolt in zx12r swingarm extensions and fit the wheel and 240 tyre that were destined for the chopper.
I need some alloy to make some hubs for the wheel. Its not that often you see a slightly more radical EFE,so let me see how this idea works?

I need a new kettle and a microwave for my workshop. I had a loan of a plasma cutter a week or two back (to make a stainless box section plenum for a turbo),and think Santa should possibly get me one of them. Having the milling machine/lathe,TIG MIG and pipe bending stuff is okay ( ),but Ive had no training,so never use things to their potential. I was reading the instruction manual for my DRO (digi read out) for the milling machine,and it looks like you can do all sorts of good stuff with it,but im either too lazy to learn,or too stupid! Thats the one,stupid!
My ideas are actually not as bad as they had been originally. I had planned on fitting this in the rear of my EFE,to the point were Id made a new swingarm.


Thankfully,common sense prevailed!

Ive a few nice bits in the loft,a one off alloy plenum for an EFE by FBM racing,an ex big cc racing 1500 turbo mikuni hsr carb (42mm i think?)a few (non carbon sealed )turbo's and a load of stainless steel bends and bits of pipe. So,im going to watch our leader FBJ do his draw thru,and then if funds allow,copy.

You need a spray booth too. Danish,my good man,I know we are on a similar wavelength from past chatting elsewhere on the netty,if you need anything,you just have to ask.
