Small world isnt it? (paint vids)
It seems like a small World, when you come onto a forum and see motorbikes, peoples names etc,and realise with the wonder of the internet things arent always far from home.
Im new here, and so far I recognise Stockcar's name, from whom i bought an EFE frame a while back, which is now powdercoated and ready for action. FBK Ive met one or two times, always jealous of all the suzuki stuff he seems to have in his garage. He sold me a nice cheap set of bodywork for an EFE.
And last but certainly not least,I recognise Big Gareth's name. Another gent from the Teeside area. I admit I was a bit of a slow coach with some paint i did for Gareth,as I had a lot going on,and had a few issues with paint reacting to something, but got there in the end.
Big Gareths panels which i hope he doesnt mind me sharing?
This was a couple of years ago,Id had a problem with the tank so decided to bare metal it. Too say I was "dissapointed" when it was blasted, was an understaement. Id put better in the bin!
But I do enjoy a painting challenge. Im sorry its not an aircooled bike part, but its good as an example of what can/cant be done.

You might need to click on the pic to see the video?? Ive not yet done this type of thing on here before.
The frame as blasted, nasty nasty nasty.
Nasty again, but you need to crack an egg to make an omellette or something.
Again you may need to clicky the pic to see vid?

After the usual prime, rub down, prime rub down..........the finished tank.
It came out ok I think.
Click pic of my little dog Dolly,to see video.

Clicky pic to see?

Tail piece.
It wasnt perfect, but it shows that even what started as a tatty mess can be worked on to look ok.

I can come clean now,as it was ages ago,but with Big Gareth's paint i had a few issues as mentioned above,so as ever made my excuses.
But as it turned out,the tank ended up being blasted to bare metal on the Monday afternoon after I was sick of some sort of paint reaction, and handed back all shiney on the Thursday night!! A 3 day turn around.
I wouldnt want to do that again!!
Since then, ive built a nice, small but perfectly formed spray booth for my workshop,so things have im pleased to say improved a bit. Not as much dust everywhere etc.

As above I had my little dog Dolly appearing in the vid,to continue the theme, here's the real Dixie (the dog).
This vid shows some of the panels from my brothers suzuki, after painting, due to him being hit by a deer.
Click the pic to see vid.
It takes a few seconds to get past the guard dogs.
