Thats a good question.

Plus a Yamaha thundercat (for which Ive bought an Audi/VW KKK turbocharger),a gpz750 unitrac which im going to turn into either a z650 lookalike,or a z1 lookalike? A couple of GXSR's (1100 and 750),a couple of FJ1200's (very cheap underated bikes!)a mk2 suzuki blandit......a chinese 125 honda cbr copy....the list goes on.
But Im here now,in amongst the big boys,on the verge of pulling an efe out of hiding and making a start.

I bought a frame and V5 a while back now from Stockcar, who's a member here, which ive had powdercoated black. The company i used shall remain nameless,as they didnt do as good a job as what i would have liked. Ahem.
The reason i bought a frame by the way was ()because years and years and years ago,i forgot to sorn my efe,and its probably less hassle to start with another fresh frame and swop parts over. Maybe other people would do it differently i dont know?
Anyway,Im thinking of doing things in small bite size snippets, and collecting all the bits and bobs, then I'll make a good effort to do a project in what looks like a shorter time!
The thing Im thinking of doing at the moment is a new sprocket cover do dah. Years back i made one, which to be honest, worked, but looked crap.
The outside was a horrible design,so Im going to keep the basic idea, with a bearing support, but start again. When i made that thing,i was using a decrepid mill/drill pictured.
But im now the happy owner of one of these. So i should be able to make something neater and a lot nicer,i hope!
If anybody has any ideas or pics of nice covers, feel free to share them with me please,to help inspire me in the right direction.
How about this as a bit of a pointer

Thanks, thats cool. I actually started making a new one yesterday afternoon, but I couldnt get my camera to fire up. Im still not sure if its just a flat battery ot the the fact the camera had been left in the workshop for a few days in the cold. I shall try again later to do some pics.

ALWAYS GOOD TO READ A THREAD FROM ANOTHER who is similarly afflicted-i had all but got the racing fixation out of my head and planned and allowed time to concentrate on my older and more laid back/fun race/road bikes-BUT as we all know here-EFE is for life-
like dixie here [looking forward to pendine !] i like to get as much work done and parts made in house as i can/am able-on occasionally there are certain jobs that are best farmed out to people who specialize-for racing suzuki,s i have a certain man for cranks-a certain man for REAL gas flowing-and a certain company for balancing-and then again a different set of specialists for the differing engines we race-
i have 7 bikes on the go at the moment-so to see this is very inspiring.
wat is wrong with us ?

lol, nothing wrong with a few projects.
lets see,3 hard up choppers,a blandit,a thundercat,2 fj1200's,a couple of gsxr's,a zed ltd thing,and last but not least 3 EFE's.
The lastest thing is a draw thru turbo for a gsxr/blandit.
Im just waiting to get the sellers bank details and hand the cash over! Then, deep breath,a mate of beerbellykelly's is building a Pendine race bike, which Im loaning or donating some parts too.
It should be cool. Ive offered to do paint for free, loan a drag exhaust system, make a billet sprocket cover and poss make a swingarm? The funny thing is,ive never met Alan the project owner, but sometimes i think if youve spare stuff in the shed that might help somebody's dream's( or whatever)lend a hand. Thats what motorbikes are to me,its about not being selfish and doing what you can. The good bit for me,hopefully, will be seeing the bike race on the sands, knowing that even if it was only a tiny part, ive done something to help get the bike there. You never know,i might even have a cup of tea bought for me when there!!
Progress soon hopefully!.

Im not keen on slagging companies off in name, but,if you want your garden furniture done,i can happily recommend Northumbria coatings. If however you want a motorbike frame done,go elsewhere. I think the problems lie with them being a non specialist motorbike coaters. They probably put my frame in with other general black things.
The issues ive had with the frame are that anywhere that there is a recess (bolt holes etc)theyve bunged them up with what ever they use. This is fine until you unmask and find bare metal area's. Im lucky enough to have a small spray booth so can handle it,but Id feel sorry if you had a job done and were not happy. Powder coaters seem have a funny old reputation, some like a certain one which others hate! Tread carefully is what Id say!

Just image its a suzuki sprocket cover.

Ive started one a few weeks back but have been busy with other things which have kept me out the workshop. And im soft,as the temp has been to low!
