Moto Martin GSX1100

Many of you will have already seen my latest aquisition.........A Moto Martin GSX1100 from circa 1981. ( it actually staarted life with a GS1000 engine fitted)

Now its already been on show recently down at Stafford, on the ACS stand where I asked everyone which way I should go with it....Standard or Modified?....and the votes were very close and were even fudged by someone ;)

Now I have decided that Its going to have a period look to it and will prob have spoked wheels and RWU forks along with period twin headlight Moto Martin fairing and painted in White with Gixxer light and dark blue stripes.

The Yellow tail unit is only loosly fitted and obviously will look a lot different with a nice upholstered seat and sprayed in the same colour scheme as the rest of the bike!

Its also going to have a modified GSXR750 K1 canti-lever swinging arm, as the original arm is Fuggly and flimsier than a MP's election manifesto........

What are your thoughts?

Hello Bobster. Ur plan sounds great. I reckon you should coat the frame.

When you change the swingarm make sure it aint to short :-)

Yep....I was also thinking about powder coating the frame in a Suzuki electric blue, as its a bit tatty in places.........well its very tatty in places.......bit like me!

I know its a real shame to cover that Nikel plated finish, but as it is, it really spoils the overall look of the bike! We'll see! :|

As for the swinging arm , until I actually offer the Gixxer arm up, I wont know if it will actually fit , and if it needs extending or not! It will obviously have to be modified to take / attach to the canti-lever rear shock. But luckily I know where there are some under-used CNC milling machines crying out for some jobs doing on them ;)

Im still after a nice set of Bandit 1200 or Gsx1400 forks ;)

Also does anyone know if a set of GSXR1000 titanium down pipes will fit a GSX1100 engine?

Gixxer Ti-Pipes can be made to fit, it takes some heat though. A mate who's a regular in the German Classic SBK scene did so for his chick's GS with 7.5 EF engine, so no prob with GSX.

Looks a nice project... Recon you need an endurance style seat though bud.... Will shorten it up nicely as it look a lil long with those seats on.... You having the half fairing with twin endurance style spots yeah? Like in peddas link? It'll be good when done!
