doesn't matter if you get any use out of it john, just walking in the workshop and looking and drooling over it. makes it worth every penny............or is it just me that has that problem

When I bought the milling machine,it was a toss up between a second hand superbike that would do 180-190mph and had suzuki badges on it,or the milling machine.
It was expensive, but the most noticable costs added up with things like a 10 inch rotary table, cutters, new boring head etc etc etc once i actually had the machine delivered. I had a mill/drill before that, but in all honesty,it was rubbish.
Ive so made absolutely nothing from the machine in money terms, but have helped a lot of mates out with bits and pieces, which sometimes is just as satisfying,as long as they dont raid my metal supplies.
I used to often visit an autojumble near York (Rufforth),where sometimes a bloke from an engineering company would be selling offcuts, thats where id buy my alloy. One day,i more or less said how much for it all,and he said 500 quid. Cough, splutter I said, but I ended up with a car filled to the roof with big blocks of alloy. I didnt pay the amount he asked either!
My lathe as well, this is very handy to own. Ive never had any training,so it was in at the deep end, with for the 1st year me just making swarfe!

Ive made a couple of quid from the lathe.
The popular jobs on that seem to be windowed clutch covers, wheel spacers, machining sprocket carriers down for new wheels into old bikes, fat car wheel conversions,USD fork extensions....and many other things. Even without making any money from one, they are worth there weight in gold,if your building a bike.
Dear Santa,Id like a bigger lathe please with a digi read out please......

One thing I do need is a new replacement bottle of gas for the heater!! Its bloody cold out there today. Its all stopped now,as I cant get out for a new bottle of gas until tomorrow.
Next week im going to knuckle down and get all my other bike jobs finished and out of my way,a load of paint and a set of FZ1 billety engine cases (windowed clutch cover etc),then Im going to get stuck into the efe.
My new years resolution is going to be,try and finish a project, before starting on another and another and another......
Ive a mate building a nice oldskool zed,and he'll say to me,this weekend im concentrating on....,then next week i'll do... He then seems to get things done. Slowly sometimes, but he doesnt have a load of stuff in his workshop. Maybe a big tidy up is on the cards.
