Steve, always wondered about them tube notcheres? hows that work? does it go in your drill? can you change the diameter of notch. how expensive?
By the way you was asking about a lathe, I have a a halfords one, it's a few years old with only a little use, they are about £600, I made a nice stand for mine, I want £275 for it if your interested.

This is a great looking project, and for cost,i think the way forward. Rebuilding old engines is an expensive option,so fitting new stuff makes a lot of sense. Ive watched some of your other projects online, and only wish one thing. Blow the tyre up on your car!!!!

The other good thing is with the quote above from our leader,I wont feel guilty when my number 2 efe goes gsxr powered.
I also like the way that you,FBJ and my pal Tom have cut and rearranged the bottom rails to allow the engine fitment. This will have a few people scratching their heads, thinking as to how its all been done.

I shall watch with interest for more progress.

I have the old rebuild buy newer dilemma, the engine in my GS needs a total rebuild, i know its going to cost more to rebuild than fitting a newer oil cooled engine so i'm still undecided what to do. if i go down the rebuild route ill have to undertake the rebuild myself, but never having built rebuilt an engine ima bit nervous. but i suppose if you don't try you'll never learn anything new.
i'm loving the build so keep posting, cant wait to see the frame mods, keep up the good work

Hi Nick. I heard someone say that Roger Upperton only charged £300 in labour for building a big motor. I really rate him too

I think the gsx1400 motor is the way forward for those who can afford them.
I spotted a Eddie Lawson Z1000r with one fitted,so it must be an idea thats taking off all over the World.

Thanks Guys
Finally managed to get started back on the Kat today, managed to centre the engine and lower the rear to match the sprocket to the swingarm pivot, also cut and shaped some box section to strengthen the frame and tacked it into place
