Up date on todays racing - another hot dry day in Kiwi land just that a side / head wind got up in the afternoon to about 25km/h (15 mph ) stopping any chance of getting good times
Once I got the jetting right - started at 145 1 and 4 cylinder , 147.5 2 and 3 cylinder and after 4 passes had it running great with 152.5 1 and 4 cylinder 155 cylinder 2 and 3 - went from running a 15's on the first run it was missing that bad cause it was so lean to a best of 11.66 at 118.5, happy with the mile per hour but the times are still shit, cant get my 60 ft times down, and feel that it got a lot to do with the clutch adjustment , so thats the next thing to get sorted over the next few days before heading off to race in Nelson next weekend
A few photos from today

The plan is coming together really well. 11.66 aint bad is. A stock Busa can only get 10.5sec. Your running a 25 year old bike that your not used too. Im sure the times going to keep falling. I like reading your updates and cant wait to see tbe times tumbling

Thats a good point FBJ , i was was looking at the mph knowing that the times should be some like 10.8 - 10.9's
Going to be a full on week - have a wheel bearing to change on the bike trailer , clutch to sort out , and with fingers and toes crossed my shift light / data logger will arrive and be installed .................... all that plus a couple of 13hr night shifts at work, a 6 hour drive to Nelson, race for the day , and then to turn round and drive back home

If your still on the stock gearing i expect your going over the line in 4th and not hitting 5th ....
A stock efe will run a high ten at best.....when the bike came out in the 80s....
A jurno ran a 10.7 or 10.8....on one in an american bike mag test.to hugh aclaim
it later turned out to have been a drag racing jockey "not the jurno" and he had had the bike 2 days and tweeked the suspension & gearing...
PS a stockl busa will run 9s in the right hands...

Aggreed Ducndive a well ridden Busa will run high nines and I looked at that opion but this is about making something thats almost 30 years old fast - I costed out going the Busa, GSXR1000,road as opossed to the GSX11 and there is very little difference once you realy start getting in to it - ECU's, Dry Blocks etc arnt that cheap , yes its easy to run in the 9's you dont have to change wheels , swing arms, battle to lose weight but thats all part of this project . Plus I love the look on the young fella's faces when this late 40 year old on a bike that aproching 30 beats them in DYO as I did last weekend - had a average reaction time of 0.1 seconds and was runing with in 0.05 of my DYO run after run , only lost in the final cause I missed the gear change in to 5th
Checked the gearing and it standard 15/43 so now on the hunt for a 14 tooth front sprocket for the weekend , that with getting the clutch right should see a drop in 60 foot times - best I've had to date is 1.86 seconds with most round the 1.95 - they are simply to slow, needing to be in the 1.5 to 1.6 second range

Just got back from the local bike shop thinking i would have to order a 14 tooth 630 front sprocket but no he had draws full of all sorts of front sprockets , all different sizes and pitches that he had collected over time , didnt have 1 but 2 of them so now just have to fit it and that small job done --–----- still waiting for my shift light to arrive and the Postial tracking site has not been up date for a few days so have no idea where it is now or when it will get here ....................

Heres a thought i guess you are already aware and i aint no expert but aint tyre pressure quite important. . Lower pressure wider footprint. Bigger pressure less friction.

Thats a very good thought FBJ - got a little wheels spin in the first meeting back in December that cost me moving in to the semi finals so dropped the tyre pressure from 25psi to 20 for this meeting and that problem has gone
The other EFE drag bike I've got was doing 1.7 60ft's but in all the time i raced it I never wrote a thing down on the set up - tyre pressures , jetting , surspension setting , weather on the day etc , all the engine mod's I can remember but the finer detail is long forgotten , raced that bike in the early 90's until our daugther came along in 95 with a best of 10.1 at 138mph but in a fit of madness sold the motor to help a racing friend out .............. should never have done that but hindsight always 20/20
