My EFE make over.
Re: My EFE make over.
Ive been told the thread sizes on the Rayjay are NTP?? lol. It means nothing to me.
Normally on a weekend I have visitor after visitor in my workshop, which means I can get a lift with engines etc,but this weekend Ive been Billy no mates.
I had hoped to have had the engine in now.
maybe this week...

NPT= national pipe thread. Its a tapered thread. The tighter you tighten it the thighter it gets. If that makes sense. Dont use you 50" shifting speanner
youll bust either the turbo or snap the fitting

NPT indeed.
I visited a local industrial hose manufacturer, and the nice chap on the counter looked at the threads on the oil intake side and said the threads looked "fooked for part of the way down". You can see visible thread wear for want of a good expesion when you look down the hole. Luckily,a chap from a specialist mechanical adhesive company was there, who explained his special thread glue would fix it. So next week Im off to see him.
On the bright side, the hose place gave me my fittings for free.
With the carb loosely bolted to the turbo, and the banana pipe fixed on too,Im happy to just sit and look at it for now.

Have a look on http://www.jjcraceandrally.com they do oil coolers, anodised fittings, hose etc.
I worked it out using their prices, you could probably do a 13row cooler, anodised fittings to suit, & the hose etc for about £100 ish... now thats cheap.
In fact their coolers seem very cheap in all sizes, & they do loads of other cool stuff too.
A 13row full width cooler (235mm), is £32.50 plus vat... thats hell of a lot cheaper than Earls etc.

Thanks deanotek for that link, its really helpful.
I have a brand new 13 row cooler here with fittings, but could fancy a 19 row one. I figure it will be big enough (i hope?)to cool the oil,yet not so big to be fugly.
I ordered and then had to re-order rose joints and bits and pieces to make my lock up struts,as the supplier couldnt supply my order for 6 weeks!
I'll probably still be here typing things in 6 weeks.
Having a fooked back and a false hip is doing my head in. Im spending days not able to do much unless visitors appear. I just cant manage heavy things!
I used to be a gym fan,and people (girls!)would comment that I had big arms,
,I wish i still had the strength I used to have! For any young people here, its crap getting old! But your bike insurance does get a bit cheaper!
I was offered the chance to buy a turbo blandit today,it would make more sense at the moment to just buy it and enjoy riding in the summer,if it ever comes. Temptation...

Before the temptation took place,I had been onto somebody regarding a nicely sized new split rim wheel for another EFE project I have stashed away. I seem to have a few 240 tyres and could do with using them up!
Anyway, the conversation starts with me asking about rim offset/inset? "What you putting it on?" A bike. "???????" "It wont fit,its a car wheel..."
Luckily had a knock at the door and ending the conversation.
Ive a new 8.5 x18 deep dished wheel I can use instead,to build a roller up. But I do enjoy a nice 3 piece split rim wheel.
Pics soon.

It will be this wheel from one of the abandoned shitty chop things.

With this swingarm.

(or an arm the same as that one)

I know a 240 tyre will fit.

(F***ing horrible streetfighter shite!).

Im having a bad paint day today. I recently painted a tank, and had a bit of a blemish,so rubbed the area down, reprimed, let the primer dry for about a week, and today decided to finish it. The area I had reprimed wrinkled up. I havent a clue why? Ive been thru all the things I can think of,silicone in the air to wearing a t-shirt that might have been washed with some dodgy washing powder...you name it,ive thought about it!
Ive now sanded the tank back to a starting point, will reprime and pray.
Its the fun thing with paint, once in a while you get issues that cant be figured out? I wonder if Ive got a bad batch of thinners? Too agressive. Goodness knows.
