kiwi to the 8's
Re: kiwi to the 8's
Yeah, agreed, I've had GSXR thou's and busa's just to try them, the ACS bikes are deffinately the way to go, I really want to do a few run what ya brung events this year. Haven't done it since i was about 20, on my old CBX1000, just for fun. As a novice I'm more interested in learning the art of reacting to the lights, and getting a descent 60ft, hopefully the rest will just be pinning the throttle.

Its all about doing passes , the more you can get in the better , you will find the your reaction times will get better and better with a steady drop in 60 foot times and remember to always leave on the last amber cause if you see the green come on and you arnt already letting the clutch out its going to be a slow reaction time . Great fun drag racing and the DYO / run what you bring classes are all about skill and not the depth of you pocket

So was looking over the bike tonight to see where we can lose more weight - the bike is 233.2 kg with about 5 ltr of gas and all the oils in it , Suzuki lists the weight as 238kg dry so have made some gains but its a bloody long way from my target weight of 200kg wet
Seeing as I had the scales out in the shed I thought I would check the weight of some of the parts
EFE frame - 16.1kg
tank 6.3kg
rear wheel and disc with out tire 8.3kg
A disc 2.3kg !!!! - got to get lighter ones of those
Speedo and rev counter set 1.3kg
Riders seat 1.6kg
Now I understand why they are such a heavy bike, ever thing was made to last ....!
Also weighted the wheels I that thought i would use
GSXR 1100 17x 5.5 rear wheel 6.5kg with disc , no tyre
RGV 17" front rim , with both disc's and no tyre 6.3kg
so there a couple of kg but a very long way to go
Will look at what after market body work as around during the winter - fibre glass has to be lighter than steel , don't think I can run to carbon fibre but would be nice

Yeah going to remove one of the front disc's , got my eye on a set of RGV 150 forks and triple clamps for sale over here , just need the price to come down a bit
Schnitz Racing in the states sale these lovely BST carbon fibre wheels but at $4290.00 US a set it's not going to happen even if they freight them for free
The old girl is only ever going to live on a drag strip from now on so making lighter and longer are on top of the list right now
Has any one got photos of an extented swing for a EFE they can put for me to look at or even better has any one got one for sale, looking for something that has been extended at least 8"

So whats wrong with in this photo ............................

3 out of the 4 , Pilot Fuel Screws on my set of 38mm RS flat slides i bought second hand 5 or 6 years ago that i have never run are fucked , the rest of the brass needle is stuck in the carb body so had to drill them out ....................

It my not look it in the photo but it is the right size drill as it passed through the only undamaged hole , lucky i had something so fine - had bought the set to do some repairs to my RC Heli
Can get the pilot screws out of the US for $4 each but there is no way to get them here for Sundays race meeting , and to top it off the shift light / data loger i ordered 2 weeks ago does not look like it will turn up on time ether so have my finger crossed for a Saturday drop off or if is in Christchurch I could pick it up but with the way this week has gone that is un likely to happen
Any ways on a good note spent the last few hours going over the bike getting it ready for the racing on Sunday , the jets arrived that i ordered so now have a full set of jets from 130 to 160 in 2.5 steps. have 145's in the standard carbs with out filters and running the Vance and Hinds exhust , might be a touch on the rich side but can tell untill i do a run and have a look at the plugs

Yep i once had a set of RS36'S like that..bought em second hand, i think some people think you've to tighten them all the way down with a screw driver, then back em off to their settings,.. big mistake, the ends just jam in the holes & snap off when screwed out.Better done finger tight.
