Today the postie dropped a parcel off containing a set of Katana bodywork for new paint,I shall practise on this before I do my own paint.

Its a great looking bike, but theres something odd about the engine? I just cant put my finger on it?

Anyway,a good bike to practise on with my paint.

I couldnt find the pic i was looking for,but this is the bases for my inspiration for EFE number 1.

I might even junk the usd front end and go right way up. We shall see?

If theres a number 1,I must already be thinking about number 2.
With all the good folk chopping bottom rails about on Katana's to fit new engines,Im wanting to go down a different route.
A while back I started to do some changes to a zed frame, but it stopped when i couldnt find the reg plate or V5 documents.
Id like to do number 2 frame like this, but finish it!!

If I had continued,i would have braced the thing as much as necessary, and then the bottom rails/front down tubes would have been cut out.

My only thing im concerned about would be with an EFE's square section frame, would the round tubes look odd?? Ive now access to a jig,so I think its do-able??
Any thoughts???

I first spotted it at York (drag strip) in about 83-84,and just stood and drooled over it. At the time a bike like that would have been out my finacial reach, but i wanted one so badly!!
When I painted mine pink with green wheels,it was a nod in his direction, but back to front. He had his turbo painted flourescent green with pink wheels.

I used to love the ultimate strretbike events back then, and never missed one. Happy days.

Ive already decide the colours for number two EFE.
US style blue and white. Im not sure if this colour scheme was available in the uk??? Ive a tank painted like this, but I dont know where it came from now?

To add a bit of bling,id use something like this for the blue,a sparkly pearl, which in the sun, shines! For the white,id use a white pearl.

Click pic to see short vid.
As long as I like it is all that matters to me!!

Thats a nice looking bike.
Id be happy to ride around on that. In fact id be very very happy to ride around on that.
This morning I needed to go find a z1000r frame, tank, seat dragrace swing etc,and they were all at the very back of one of my sheds. I had to remove a ton of bike bits, but I came within touching distance of my shiney EFE frame. With a new space made,i think I'll hide one of my HUC chop things away for a while, and drag the EFE frame out to play with later in the week.
A new project for myself, might re-inspire me to crack on? I hate it when midway thru a project you lose all interest and think **** it. I think because im always busy on more than one thing at a time,I tend to drift from one thing to another. Time to knuckle down, especially now its snowing, heavily!
