Re: what have i done...................
Im having a pain in the butt time with photof***it,and cant easily access vids for some reason.
So one of the ones I could access shows part of a job I did ages ago for a mate.
This was done with 10quid guns and a 30 quid compressor.
Click pic to see video.
I hate Photof***it today! Ever since they changed to the new format,I cant seem to access what I want!!!
However.
Another 10 quid spray gun paint job.
double click the pic...

I had a bit of a chat with a spray painter on another site, who seemed to think I was trying to steal his work. He wasnt very nice to me.
Somebody had asked a couple of paint questions,so I explained I was no expert, but could eventually get to where I needed with paint. I mentioned cheap spray guns, where I bought my paints etc...and gave my thoughts ( )on how I thought a thousand quid for a paint job on a tank,2 side panels and a tailpiece was lets say a bit steep.
Some people dont have much of a sense of humour.
My fave bit of kit when it comes to paint, was a little bit expensive and a bit of a luxury, but it makes light work of polishing panels up.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0052WPZEW/? ... B0052WPZEW
Its not necessary if your only doing one job,but for me with normally multiple jobs on the go,a god send. And Im not religious.
If you fancy, when I make a start on the GSX paint,I'll take loads of pics and explain as best I can what Im doing? But,like I mentioned before,im not an expert and dont pretend to be!
I did Toms Katana with the fj1500 turbo engine, and 2 days before it was going home, pulled it from the safe storage space in the loft, and noticed the ink had run from the USA sourced decals. Not my fault, but something I had to think quickly about!
I did a flat out 30 hour session nearly,to re-do it. It was wrapped up hours before driving down to York to meet Tom. This was a crap paint job. Things can and do go wrong with paint. Time is your best friend, walk away from things and dont hurry.
Ive offered Tom a fresh paint job when the bike comes off the road for a bit, free of charge,to get it to where I think it needs to be.
But it'll still only probably cost me 20 quid in paint!

That would be cool pics often say a thousand words, ive never understood how a paint on a bike can cost £1, 000, if its air brush work then fair enough but a flat paint scheme seem exspencive.
And people who get pissed.of because your helping peole out by offering advice, unbelievable, not everyone's got thousand to spend on a bike and some people like to learn and do the work themselves.
This is what ill be attempting but with more modern colours
That blue grape you showed you showed looks like just what I had in mind

MMMmmmmm...blue grape! lol. Lovely.
I'll be happy to guide thru a paint job, with mistakes or if Im lucky without!
I think the GS1000S colour scheme is one of my fave's of all time. Ubah cool,as teenagers say.
Shopping list,250ML of blue grape about £11.00, 500ML of white basecoat £10, 5litres of thinners £7, litre of clearcoat with activator about £15-20. The smile on your face when finished, priceless.
Give yourself plenty of time to do the job. Id say 14 days would be the minimum amount of time,if you dont have a baking oven and pro spraybooth.
On the likes of the USA TV shows they can turn out paint in 24 hours (which Ive done myself),but they have all the pro gear to do it.
Im actually a bit excited for you. Its great your willing to the job yourself. Respect!

Thats a great looking GS. I love it.
Im pleased your going to give paint a shot yourself. I understand Bobster that prep takes time, but a grand for a paint job. Id be minted if i could ask halve that amount! Its greed, nothing more, nothing less.
Im a right lazy git,I should have been busy with paint for somebody today, but instead twiddled my thumbs, messed with my guitar etc...
I think I might make a start tomorrow at some point, with loads of pics! I think as well for a point of interest,I might write down times to see how long it actually takes in man hours? Id like the job out of here by next weekend,so it wont take that many hours surely. If I charge £50 a hour...I wish!
